"Stepping Up" Quarterly Printed Newsletter

In the summer of 2007, the NWDSA introduced Stepping Up, the newly formatted version of our community newsletter. Stepping Up is a strong tool for connecting our community, providing a bulletin board for events and a forum for sharing stories and celebrating our children. Our readers are the families and loved ones of people with Down syndrome, as well as the professionals who care for them. We gather together as a whole community just a few times a year, and the newsletter is a way that our entire mailing list of over 1,200 families, friends and professionals can stay connected with what is happening in our community, as well as learn about the latest projects that the board is working on.

We strive to bring new voices into each issue of the newsletter, soliciting articles from parents, grandparents, siblings and community partners to supplement articles by board members. We hold ourselves to a high standard of written and visual style, and have the assistance of a crew of eagle-eyed volunteers proofread each issue before it goes to press. Stepping Up serves as a valuable portfolio of our work and our community connections.
